levels on the Georgia CRCT Reading Test
2) Requires demonstration of proficiency of the 3rd grade AKS |
4th Grade
(For Promotion to 5th Grade)
1) Requires achievement of “meets (level 2) or exceeds (level 3) the standards” performance
levels on each of the following Georgia tests:
CRCT Reading, CRCT Language Arts, CRCT Math and CRCT Science, CRCT Social Studies
2) Requires a passing score on the 4th grade Mathematics’ Reasoning Test
* Students who earn no grade lower than a “C” on their progress report or report card in the Science content area in which they have scored in performance level one (Does Not Meet) shall not be retained based on the Science CRCT score. |
5th Grade
(For Promotion to 6th Grade)
1) Requires achievement of “meets” (level 2) or exceeds (level 3) the standards” performance
levels on the Georgia CRCT Reading Test and Math Test
2) Requires demonstration of proficiency of the 5th grade AKS
3) Requires a passing score on the Georgia 5th Grade Writing Assessment |
Special Education and English Language Learner Programs
• Promotion to grades 2,3, or 5 for a Limited English Proficient (LEP) student may be determined by his/her AKS Modification and Intervention Plan and recommendation of the ELL/Test Participation Committee.
• Promotion to grades 4 or 6 for a Limited English Proficient (LEP) student may be
determined by his/her scores on state-mandated tests, AKS Modification and Intervention
Plan and approval of the local school Student Study Team.
• A special education student’s promotion is determined by an IEP |
Summer School Opportunity
Students may participate in summer school to receive additional academic support and for remediation as identified on their academic contract. Additionally, summer school is recommended for students who have not passed one or more of the following:
- a 3rd, 4th or 5th grade CRCT subtest that is required for promotion
- the Georgia 5th Grade Writing Assessment that is required for promotion (These students will be provided retests prior to the end of the school year and, if necessary, may attend summer school.)
Retests for these state and local assessments will be provided at the end of summer school. |
