Visual ART

Harmony Elementary School

 Zane Brock

Greetings! Thank you for visiting my webpage. Although this is my second year at Harmony I bring over 25 years of teaching experience with me. I believe that art is an integral part of the educational curriculum. Art education helps students see and think in new ways and builds bridges between the verbal and nonverbal and between logic and emotion. Unlike some other disciplines where the goal is one correct response or answer, art encourages exploration, diversity, and teaches students that sometimes there is not one “right” answer but instead, many possibilities and ambiguities that may result in many successful outcomes. Art allows students to think “outside of the box” and experience the intrinsic joy of learning and creating for the pure sake of learning and creating. Although dexterity and skill is developed, at the elementary level I try to make the art classroom a fun place where students look forward to coming.

To see some of the student artwork that can be located in the display case in the main hallway just to the left of the front entrance click here.

Stop by and see it in person sometime and please feel free to visit the art room the next time you’re at Harmony.
